Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance isn't going to cover the entire cost of rehab or will only pay for part of it. In these instances, it may appear like a drawback but individuals actually have a much more leverage due to the fact they can choose whichever program they want without the restrictions from health insurance providers that so many people encounter. Likewise, rehab centers will frequently offer payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Some rehab programs accept Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present some other form of private health care insurance. Medicaid might pay for outpatient and short-term rehabilitation within a limited amount of centers, and in this instance individuals might want to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they're able to to pay for a more quality rehab center that will get better results, say for example a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the expense of drug treatment if other kinds of insurance or self payment aren't an option. When someone doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could be eligible for state insurance, they can seek advice from their Social Services office in their area to ascertain if they are and then fill out an application. The majority of state financed insurance will cover both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but usually only in the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some type of drug and alcohol rehab service ranging from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities. Individuals may have to take part in a drug rehabilitation facility that's within their network of providers and there might be other limitations such as how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can pick a quality center they like and meet with a treatment specialist to find out if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance including VA and Tricare does cover the price of particular substance abuse rehab services. Detox services, outpatient and inpatient facilities in addition to partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some restrictions concerning how much time a stay in inpatient drug rehab is allowed, and every one of these questions will be answered before you start rehab so that it is clear the length of time and individual can remain in the rehab facility of choice.
