Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the lower end of the spectrum of treatment services in terms of intensity of care, because the individual will be able to preserve their lifestyle in lots of ways with no commitment of having to remain in a rehab facility while undergoing rehab services. Even if this may seem ideal it may not provide the required change of surroundings than many people in recovery require to experience a successful rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance isn't going to pay for the entire cost of treatment or will only cover part of it. In these instances, it may seem like a drawback but people actually have a much more leverage due to the fact they can select whichever facility they want without the restrictions from health insurers that so many men and women encounter. Likewise, rehab centers will usually offer payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to help them get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain treatment programs accept Medicaid when the individual is unable to self pay or present any other kind of private health care insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term rehab within a limited amount of centers, and in this case individuals may want to investigate the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they can to cover a more quality rehab program which will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient rehab if the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help in establishing the person's rehab plan. Inpatient services are provided through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being similar to any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient treatment being paid for through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug and alcohol rehabilitation if other forms of insurance or self payment are not an option. If someone doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could qualify for state insurance, they can check with their Social Services office within their area to figure out if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient rehab, but typically only in the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some sort of alcohol and drug treatment service ranging from outpatient treatment to inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs. Individuals may have to participate in a drug rehabilitation center that's within their network of providers and there might be other restrictions such as how long their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can select a quality facility they prefer and consult with a rehab counselor to determine if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance which includes VA and Tricare does cover the price of particular substance abuse rehab solutions. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities as well as partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There could be some restrictions about just how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug treatment is permitted, and all of these questions can be answered before you start treatment so that it is clear just how long and individual can remain in the rehabilitation program of choice.
