Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the lower end of the spectrum of rehab solutions in terms of intensity of care, as the individual can maintain their lifestyle in several ways with no commitment of needing to be in a rehab facility while undergoing rehabilitation services. While this might seem perfect it may not provide the required change of environment than many individuals in treatment require to experience a successful rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is necessary when someone's insurance won't cover the total cost of rehabilitation or will only pay for part of it. In these cases, it may appear like a drawback but individuals in fact have a great deal of leverage because they can decide on whichever facility they want without the limitations from health insurance companies that so many individuals encounter. In addition, rehabilitation facilities will usually provide payment assistance for people whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain rehab centers accept Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present some other form of private health insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term rehab in a limited amount of centers, and in this case individuals may choose to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality rehab program which will produce better results, such as a long-term residential drug rehab program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehabilitation at drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs which provide either inpatient or outpatient treatment when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in establishing the individual's treatment plan. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being exactly like any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the costs of drug rehab if other forms of insurance or self payment are not an option. If someone has no private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could qualify for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office within their area to ascertain if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will take care of both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but generally only inside the state which provides the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans generally cover some kind of alcohol and drug rehabilitation service including outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities. Individuals might have to take part in a drug rehabilitation center that is within their network of providers and there might be other restrictions for example just how long their stay in treatment is covered. Individuals can pick a good program they prefer and speak with a treatment counselor to find out if their insurance will handle it.
