Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of treatment solutions in terms of level of care, for the reason that individual is able to preserve their lifestyle in several ways without the commitment of needing to stay in a rehabilitation program while undergoing rehab services. Even though this might appear ideal it might not provide the required change of atmosphere than many individuals in treatment need to have a successful rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance isn't going to pay for the total cost of rehab or will only pay for some of it. In these situations, it may appear like a disadvantage but individuals really have a much more leverage because they can choose whichever facility they would like without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. Likewise, rehab facilities will usually provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some treatment programs will take Medicaid if the individual is not able to self pay or present some other kind of private medical health insurance. Medicaid may possibly pay for outpatient and short-term rehab in a limited amount of facilities, and in this case individuals might want to investigate the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they are able to to pay for a more quality rehabilitation facility that will produce better results, say for example a long-term residential drug rehab program.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can seek rehab at drug rehabilitation facilities which deliver either inpatient or outpatient treatment when the center is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the authorization of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help out with establishing the individual's rehabilitation strategy. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Part A, with up front costs being the same as any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the costs of drug and alcohol rehab if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't a possibility. When someone doesn't have any private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might be eligible for state insurance, they should talk with their Social Services office within their area to figure out if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation, but typically only in the state which offers the insurance coverage.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private medical insurance plans typically cover some form of drug treatment service ranging from outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers. Individuals may have to take part in an alcohol and drug treatment program that is within their network of providers and there might be other restrictions such as the amount of time their stay in rehab is covered. Individuals can select a quality center they prefer and meet with a rehab specialist to find out if their insurance will cover it.
