Drug Addiction Facts

  • The average addict ''self medicates'' a physical, emotional, spiritual hurt with drugs he/she has not been able to deal with in a healthy manner.
  • Cocaine abusers are at increased risk for contracting infectious diseases such as human immunodeficiency virus/acquired immune deficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) and viral hepatitis, not only from sharing contaminated needles and drug paraphernalia but also from engaging in risky behaviors as a result of intoxication.

Outpatient

Outpatient services are on the bottom end of the spectrum of rehab services regarding level of care, for the reason that individual can maintain their lifestyle in lots of ways without the commitment of needing to stay in a treatment program while receiving rehabilitation services. While this might seem ideal it might not provide the required change of surroundings than a lot of people in treatment require to have a productive rehab.

ASL or Other Assistance for Hearing Impaired

The hearing impaired can often be predisposed to alcoholism and drug abuse because of the challenges their impairment impose on them. While detection of this issue can be hard among the hearing impaired, you'll find ASL and also other assistance services available for them when substance abuse rehab is required. Other than ASL, such services may include assistive listening equipment and captioned video resources so that deaf and hearing impaired individuals are obtaining the support they need in alcohol and drug rehab.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when someone's insurance won't cover the total cost of treatment or will only cover some of it. In these situations, it may appear like a drawback but people actually have a much more leverage because they can select whichever center they want without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many individuals face. In addition, treatment programs will often provide payment assistance for individuals whose only option is self payment to enable them to get into rehabilitation.

Medicaid

Certain rehabilitation centers will take Medicaid if the individual is unable to self pay or present any other kind of private health insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term rehab inside a limited amount of facilities, and in cases like this individuals might want to explore the self pay option and drum up any resources they're able to to cover a more quality rehabilitation center that will produce better results, like a long-term residential alcohol and drug rehab facility.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehab at drug and alcohol treatment centers which deliver either inpatient or outpatient treatment if the center is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the approval of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must assist in establishing the person's treatment strategy. Inpatient solutions are provided through Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being exactly like any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being covered through Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid may be used to cover the expense of drug rehabilitation if other forms of insurance or self payment aren't an option. If someone doesn't have private insurance and doesn't yet know if they might qualify for state insurance, they can talk with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. The majority of state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but generally only in the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which plan you are covered by, all private medical health insurance plans typically cover some type of alcohol and drug treatment service including outpatient rehabilitation to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities. Individuals may have to participate in a drug treatment center that is inside their network of providers and there may be other limitations like how long their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can select a good facility they like and meet with a rehab specialist to find out if their insurance will cover it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the costs of certain substance abuse rehabilitation services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities as well as partial hospitalization are covered by military insurance, although military members may need pre-authorization and in that case they can speak with their VA or Tricare consultant. There might be some restrictions as to how long a stay in inpatient alcohol and drug rehab is allowed, and every one of these questions can be answered prior to starting treatment so that it is clear the length of time and individual can remain in the rehabilitation program of choice.

Sliding Fee Scale

A sliding fee scale can be a payment assistance possibility offered by many different drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs to help help clients afford treatment where this may not have been possible originally. For example, one client's fee for rehab could be different and lower than another person whose financial situation is better making them better able to pay the full cost of treatment. Registrars take into account additional factors in addition to income including number of dependents to determine the final cost using the sliding scale.
