Drug Addiction Facts

  • Once Ecstasy is consumed it takes only about 15 minutes for the drug to enter the bloodstream and reach the brain, and one "hit" of Ecstasy can last for 3 to 6 hours.
  • In high doses or when used concurrently with other drugs or alcohol, methadone can produce some of the same effects of heroin and other opiates.
  • Brain studies indicate that even acute short term use of Ecstasy can adversely affect the areas of the brain involved in higher thought processes, raising concerns regarding possible long-term effects on both infrequent and regular users of Ecstasy.

Self Payment

Self Payment is required when someone's insurance won't pay for the entire cost of rehabilitation or will only cover some of it. In these cases, it may appear like a drawback but people in fact have a great deal of leverage simply because they can decide on whichever program they would like without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, rehabilitation centers will often provide payment assistance for individuals whose only choice is self payment to help them get into treatment.

Medicaid

Some rehab facilities accept Medicaid in the event the individual is unable to self pay or present another form of private medical insurance. Medicaid may only pay for outpatient and short-term treatment within a limited amount of programs, and in this instance individuals may choose to explore the self pay option and come up with up any resources they're able to to fund a more quality rehab center that will get better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehab at drug rehabilitation facilities which provide either inpatient or outpatient treatment when the program is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed doctor, who must help in establishing the person's treatment plan. Inpatient solutions are covered through Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being similar to any other kind of hospital stay, and outpatient treatment being paid for through Medicare Part B.
