Outpatient

Outpatient solutions are on the low end of the spectrum of rehabilitation solutions with regards to level of care, as the individual is able to maintain their lifestyle in many ways with no commitment of having to stay in a rehab center while receiving rehabilitation services. Even though this may seem perfect it will not provide the much needed change of surroundings than a lot of people in treatment need to have a successful rehabilitation.

Self Payment

Self Payment is needed when a person's insurance won't cover the entire cost of rehabilitation or will only pay for some of it. In these instances, it may appear like a disadvantage but people actually have a much more leverage due to the fact they can choose whichever center they want without the restrictions from health insurance companies that so many people encounter. In addition, rehabilitation centers will often provide payment assistance for people whose only choice is self payment to help them get into rehab.

Medicaid

Certain rehabilitation centers will take Medicaid if the individual cannot self pay or present some other type of private medical health insurance. Medicaid may only cover outpatient and short-term treatment inside a limited amount of programs, and in this instance individuals may wish to explore the self pay alternative and drum up any resources they are able to to fund a more quality treatment center which will get better results, like a long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center.

Medicare

Medicare recipients can receive rehabilitation at drug and alcohol rehab centers which provide either inpatient or outpatient rehab when the facility is included in the network of Medicare-participating providers and with the consent of their Medicare appointed physician, who must help in establishing the individual's treatment plan. Inpatient services are covered through Medicare Medicare Part A, with out of pocket costs being just like any other type of hospital stay, and outpatient rehab being paid for through Medicare Medicare Part B.

State Financed Insurance (Other Than Medicaid)

State financed insurance other than Medicaid can be used to cover the expense of drug rehab if other kinds of insurance or self payment are not a choice. If someone does not have any private insurance and doesn't yet know whether they could be eligible for state insurance, they should check with their Social Services office within their area to determine if they are and then apply. Most state financed insurance will handle both outpatient and inpatient treatment, but usually only within the state which provides the insurance plan.

Private Health Insurance

Depending on which program you are covered by, all private health care insurance plans generally cover some form of drug and alcohol rehab service including outpatient rehab to inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs. Individuals may have to participate in a drug and alcohol rehab center which is inside their network of providers and there can be other limitations such as the amount of time their stay in rehabilitation is covered. Individuals can pick a quality facility they prefer and consult with a rehabilitation counselor to determine if their insurance will handle it.

Military Insurance (E.G., Va, Tricare)

Military insurance such as VA and Tricare does cover the expense of particular drug abuse rehabilitation services. Detoxification services, outpatient and inpatient facilities as well as partial hospitalization are all paid for by military insurance, although military members may require pre-authorization in which case they can speak with their VA or Tricare representative. There might be some limitations as to how much time a stay in inpatient drug rehabilitation is allowed, and all of these questions can be answered before beginning treatment so that it's clear how much time and individual can remain in the rehabilitation center of preference.
